HC Deb 01 April 1946 vol 421 c811
25. Mr. McKie

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware of the shortage of domestic weighing scales used for normal cooking purposes: whether there are any such scales held by manufacturers and retailers not yet available to the public; and whether, in view of the importance to good cooking, he will authorise an increase in the rate of production.

Mr. Wilmot

Yes, Sir; but I do not know of any stocks of domestic scales being withheld from the public. I share the hon. Member's views on the importance of good cooking and am, therefore, happy to be able to tell him that measures have already been taken to increase the rate of production.
