HC Deb 29 October 1945 vol 415 c40
58. Mr. Boothby

asked the Minister of Agriculture what are the proposals of His Majesty's Government with regard to the landing and control of foreign-caught fish in this country.

Mr. T. Williams

I am not at the present time in a position to make any statement on this subject.

Mr. Boothby

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the fishing industry of this country is awaiting with some anxiety the policy of His Majesty's Government? He cannot keep them waiting indefinitely.

Mr. Williams

I can assure the hon. Gentleman that the fishing industry are well aware of the difficulties of making a statement at this moment.
