HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 cc29-30
70. Mr. Astor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an assurance that future measures of taxation will allow small private firms to make a reasonable profit on their returns if they now resume their pre-war export trades.

Mr. Dalton

I cannot give any such assurance, in advance of my Budget statement, regarding future measures of taxation.
