HC Deb 26 November 1945 vol 416 c866
10. Squadron-Leader Hollis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the Greek Government consulted His Majesty's Government before they announced the postponement of the plebiscite; and what representations His Majesty's Government made on this subject.

Mr. Noel-Baker

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State dealt fully with the question of the postponement of the plebiscite in Greece in the statement which he made to the House on Friday last. He explained then the circumstances in which the postponement was proposed, the advice which was given and the reasons for this advice. To that full and precise statement, I have nothing to add.

Squadron-Leader Hollis

In the event of the newly elected Greek Parliament—

Mr. Speaker

That is a hypothetical question. "In the event" certainly indicates that it is going to be hypothetical.
