§ 73. Major Wilkesasked the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what acreage of land for settlement has been cleared in Newfoundland in the current year; what further amount is to be 897 cleared in 1946; and what acreage is proposed for clearance as part of the reconstruction programme.
§ Mr. ParkerAbout 660 acres have been cleared during the current year and a further 1,400 acres are to be cleared during 1946. Under the Reconstruction Programme it is proposed to clear 3,000 acres in the main development area and 1,000 acres annually in other parts of the Island.
