HC Deb 20 November 1945 vol 416 c234
70. Wing-Commander Robinson

asked the Minister of Information what was the reason for the recent cuts in the staffs of the British information services in the U.S.A.

Mr. E. J. Williams

The opening of peacetime channels of communication and transport between this country and the U.S.A. make unnecessary some of the wartime activities of the British information services. The supply of some forms of publicity material is likely to be reduced. But the principal reason for reduction in staff is the need to reduce Government expenditure, and in particular dollar expenditure.
