§ 36. Wing-Commander Robinsonasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware of the position of clerks, special duties, whose release groups are falling behind many other trades in the R.A.F.; that many of these men and women were part of the staffs of operations rooms and have since been transferred to other duties whilst retaining the classification of clerks, special duties, and that they are, in effect, filling the places of people in release groups later than their own; and whether he will take steps to remedy this grievance.
§ 81. Mr. Quintin Hoggasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what is the position and prospects of the trade of clerks, special duties, as regards release.
§ Mr. StracheyThe whole of the surplus of clerks S.D. has been posted for duty against vacancies for clerks G.D. and to the accounting trades. This is one of the methods which we must use for evening out releases between trades. The release rate of special duties clerks is thus kept in line with that of general duties clerks; for November, they are two groups behind the average.
§ Mr. StracheySpeaking from memory, I think they are six groups behind.
§ Mr. StracheyTo even out the rate and increase the rate of release in the accounts branch.
