HC Deb 07 November 1945 vol 415 cc1270-2
43. Sir Gifford Fox

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he will issue a table showing the present maximum rates of pension for direct entry officers of the medical, general duties, dental, equipment, accounts, legal and music branches, reaching the substantive rank of flight-lieutenant, squadron-leader, wing-commander and group-captain, respectively, indicating in each case the number of years qualifying service; and a similar table for officers promoted from the ranks pre-September, 1939, and post-September,1939.

Mr. Strachey

I am circulating a statement in the Official Report.

Sir G. Fox

Will my hon. Friend study the table and consider whether it is fair that the promoted warrant officer, irrespective of the rank he reaches, should receive only one-third of the pension of the officer who is a direct entry officer?

Mr. Strachey

Without expressing an opinion on that, I might say that the table refers only to the past, and not to the new scheme which will be brought in for the postwar Air Force.

Following is the statement:
