HC Deb 07 November 1945 vol 415 cc1278-9
50. Mr. Horabin

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the shortage of proteins, he is now prepared to release a limited quantity of peanuts for the production of peanut flour for human consumption, instead of animal feeding-stuffs, especially as the process for producing peanut flour for human consumption gives the same quantity of fats as when the residue is used as cattle food.

Sir B. Smith

No, Sir. The materials are in short supply, and I am not prepared to divert them from the quotas needed for animal feeding-stuffs.

Mr. Horabin

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I will raise this matter on the Adjournment at the first opportunity.
