HC Deb 20 March 1945 vol 409 c610
13. Sir Frank Sanderson

asked the President of the Board of Trade the total value in pounds sterling of essential goods this country has received from Argentina during the period of the war.

Mr. Dalton

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for King's Norton (Major Peto) on 6th March.

Sir F. Sanderson

Does the right hon. Gentleman consider that the shipment of essential foodstuffs from the Argentine is likely to be maintained or increased?

Mr. Dalton

That is a matter for the Minister of Food. The answer to which I have referred the hon. Member stated that in the view of the Government the time has not yet come to resume publication of detailed figures of imports into this country.
