HC Deb 14 June 1945 vol 411 cc1777-8
65. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Arthur Heneage

asked the Minister of Food if he is satisfied that there are enough fish-curing and preserving establishments near the ports of landing; and what steps he proposes to take.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Miss Horsbrugh)

Yes, Sir. Some of the establishments are not working to capacity, however, owing to labour difficulties and enemy action. My right hon. Friend is taking all practicable steps, in consultation with other Departments concerned, to obtain staff and to carry out repairs as well as to encourage improvements.
