HC Deb 31 January 1945 vol 407 c1451
50. Dr. Little

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the necessity for more fresh eggs in the interest of the health of the people, he will encourage poultry keepers to enlarge their stocks by increasing still further the fowl ration.

The Minister of Food (Colonel Llewellin)

I have nothing to add to the reply that I gave to my hon. Friend on 6th December last.

Dr. Little

Does my right hon. and gallant Friend not think that everything possible should be done to increase the fowl population of the country, which has been so largely depleted, and more especially owing to the urgent demand by the people for more home-produced fresh eggs?

Colonel Llewellin

Yes, Sir, certainly.

Viscountess Astor

Is it not true that many soldiers would rather have a fried egg regularly than a glass of beer?
