HC Deb 28 February 1945 vol 408 c1366
37. Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the civil and military authorities in Palestine now have power to seize all arms of whatever kind, whether in Jewish or Arab districts; and whether he is satisfied that these powers are being fully exercised.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Colonel Oliver Stanley)

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Stokes

Is the right hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that, in the months immediately preceding the assassination of Lord Moyne, the military were prohibited from taking up arms dumps in the Jewish settlements; and will he assure the House that it is not the case now?

Colonel Stanley

I shall be very glad, if the hon. Member has any evidence, if he will bring it to my notice.

Mr. Stokes

I certainly will.
