28. Miss Wardasked the Secretary of State for War whether he has considered the representations made with regard to V.A.Ds. under the new regime; and whether they will now receive comparable treatment with the A.T.S. of corresponding rank and qualifications.
§ Sir J. GriggThe conditions under which V.A.Ds. have served with the Army since the beginning of 1944 provide for treatment comparable with A.T.S. auxiliaries of corresponding rank and qualifications. I have read my hon. Friend's article in a Sunday newspaper, and I can assure her that the questions she raised there about clothing are already under examination. I am not aware of any other representations about V.A.Ds.
Miss WardCan the right hon. Gentleman say, if they are under examination, when that examination is coming to an end and a decision will be taken?
§ Sir J. GriggI am very loth to give dates, particularly as the hon. lady is extremely apt to remind me if the date is overshot by one day.
