§ 29. Mr. Loftusasked the Secretary of State for War why the Army authorities have rejected the recommendation of the Medical Advisory Committee that a certain doctor, whose name has been given him, should be granted three months' leave for the urgent requirements of a large medical practice in a certain town.
§ Sir J. GriggAny recommendation made by the Medical Advisory Committee is carefully considered but the shortage of doctors, and especially of surgical specialists, is so acute in the Army that it is usually impossible to release any unless replacements are immediately available. Owing to fortuitous circumstances, it has, however, been possible to make an exception in this case and the doctor will be released for two months.
§ Sir W. DavisonOn a point of Order. Could the prop on which the right hon. Gentleman leans at the Box be raised a little, so that the Members who are seated behind him can also hear his replies?
