HC Deb 27 February 1945 vol 408 c1214
13. Mr. Quintin Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will make arrangements to secure a limited number of aircraft for use in connection with the monthly leave scheme or compassionate leave.

Sir J. Grigg

There are not enough aircraft to permit of specific allotments for the purpose suggested by my hon. Friend. But arrangements already exist for bringing men and women home in aircraft employed on normal services whenever there are passages available. I am hopeful that the number of such passages will increase in the future.

Mr. Hogg

Is it not possible to arrange that types of aircraft which are no longer suitable for operations may be used in connection with this work?

Sir J. Grigg

If it is, I will certainly take the matter up with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Air; but we have already discussed this matter with the Air Ministry, and this is the best we can do.
