§ 15. Mr. W. J. Brownasked the Secretary of State for War whether he can now make a statement to the House on the case of Mr. Lindemann, recently imprisoned; upon what charges he is held; and what is the present position in this case.
§ Sir J. GriggI assume the hon. Member is referring to a Dutch subject suspected of treachery who was arrested towards the end of last year. He is now awaiting his trial and the bon. Member will appreciate that no further statement can be made now. In view of the accounts which 1215 have recently appeared in the Press I should, however, point out that the man in question was not a Dutch officer, he was not detained in the Tower and there is no evidence that he betrayed or had any advance knowledge of the Arnhem operation. The newspaper which first published news about this case did so without submitting it to the censorship authorities.
§ Mr. BellengerBefore what national court will he be tried?
§ Sir J. GriggPerhaps the hon. Member will put that question down.
