HC Deb 13 February 1945 vol 408 cc19-20
34. Mr. Graham White

asked the Minister of National Insurance if it is intended to introduce legislation to make improvements in national health benefits to cover the period before the proposals of His Majesty's Government for national insurance become operative.

The Minister of National Insurance (Sir William Jowitt)

No such proposal is in contemplation.

Mr. Graham White

Will my right hon. and learned Friend look a little further into this matter, having regard to the unfortunate impression caused when men, coming out of the Army, find themselves, when sick, quite dependent upon health allowance of 18s, without any dependants' allowances?

Sir W. Jowitt

I am always looking into this matter.
