Mr. Dobbie

(by Private Notice)asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is in a position to make any statement regarding war pensions.

The Government have now completed their review of war pensions and have decided that a number of changes should be made. The improvements are set out in a White Paper, copies of which will be available in the Vote Office later this afternoon.

May I ask the Minister if the White Paper will be the subject matter of discussion by the House before it is put into operation?

Mr. Paling

The question of discussion and Debate is not one which I can answer. I should be directed to another quarter.

Can the Leader of the House tell us whether there will be an opportunity given for discussion of the proposed changes in connection with pensions?

I should have thought that it would have been better to see what the White Paper contains before raising the question of Debate.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when these changes will come into operation?

Probably the first pay day in February.
