HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 cc906-7
28. Mr. Garry Allighan

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state the amount of rubber saved during an average year by changing the grip on women's suspenders to metal; whether he is satisfied that this saving is essential having regard to the fact that the utility types of suspender now in compulsory use either fail to keep stockings up, or are effective at the expense of laddering the stocking; and if he will give instructions for the use of rubberised grips to be resumed.

Sir S. Cripps

Separate statistics of the materials used in suspender buttons or collets are not available. The manufacture of suspender collets in synthetic rubber has been allowed again since 23rd November.
