§ 40. Mr. I. J. Pitmanasked the President of the Board of Trade what quantity of graph paper or other stationery has been imported from the U.S.A. since 30th May, 1945; how much such paper has been supplied for the use of Government departments; to what extent the necessity for this import has been caused by lack of supply of raw material or labour to manufacture in Britain; and whether he is taking action to ensure that the home producer will in future be put in a position to be able to supply all Government requirements
§ Sir S. CrippsSmall quantities of such paper, mostly of special types and to the value of about £250, have been so imported. Approximately half of these imports have been for Government use, and of types not produced in this country.
§ Mr. PitmanIs the right hon. and learned Gentleman aware that the paper used at Rothampstead Experimental Station appears to be of recent foreign importation?
§ Sir S. CrippsThat may be part of the £125 worth which has been imported on Government account.
