§ 31. Colonel Errollasked the Minister of Education whether she will improve the accommodation for married resident lecturers at present available at teachers' training colleges.
§ Miss WilkinsonThis matter will not be overlooked when it is possible to undertake new building work or substantial extensions to existing training college buildings.
§ Colonel ErrollDoes the right hon. Lady realise that the lack of accommodation is seriously deterring would-be lecturers from taking up posts in training colleges, so jeopardising the success of the training scheme? It is an urgent matter to improve the accommodation.
§ Miss WilkinsonI am fully aware that it is an urgent matter. It is equally the fact that it is impossible to do anything about it, except in a rather improvised way. Colleges are meeting the problem 601 in an improvised way, and I would like to say that the staffs, on the whole, appreciate our difficulties.
