HC Deb 12 December 1945 vol 417 cc379-80
11. Major Wilkes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is proposed to allow the further growth in Italy of the Fascist movement, The Front of the Common Man, organised by Giannini through the newspaper "Uomo Qualunque"; or whether it is the intention of the Allied Control Commission to ban this movement; and whether he will state the source of the newsprint and paper which is used by this movement.

Mr. Bevin

The question of political movements in Italy is now primarily one for the Italian Government. His Majesty's Government are of course well aware of the movement and newspaper to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers, and I am sure that the Allied authorities in Italy can be relied on to watch the matter with close attention. As regards the last part of the Question, I am making inquiries and will communicate with my hon. and gallant Friend as soon as possible.
