HC Deb 05 December 1945 vol 416 c2330
69. Major Hugh Fraser

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether parcels of second-hand clothes can now be sent to European refugees without the obtaining of an export licence from his Department.

Mr. Marquand (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

Where there is a parcel post service, gift parcels of second-hand clothes can foe sent abroad by private individuals without Board of Trade licence provided that the parcel does not exceed £5 in total value. I am sending the hon. and gallant Member a copy of an announcement on the subject. There are, however, some countries for which there are at present no parcel post facilities.

Mr. Vernon Bartlett

Could I ask the hon. Gentleman whether a list of such countries will be in the OFFICIAL REPORT?

Mr. Marquand

Yes, Sir, it can be circulated.

Mr. Bartlett

It would be very helpful.
