HC Deb 03 December 1945 vol 416 c1887
9. Lieutenant W. Shepherd

asked the Minister of War Transport when it is expected that the war time 1 ½. fares on L.P.T.B. vehicles will revert to the normal 1d. rate.

Mr. Barnes

I see no justification at present for withdrawing the increase made in the Board's fares during the war.

Lieutenant Shepherd

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many provincial buses run by private enterprise have not found it necessary to increase their basic fare of 1d., and would he consider the reverting of the London Passenger Transport Board to ownership which is better suited to the wage-earners?
