HC Deb 19 October 1944 vol 403 cc2521-2
28. Sir William Jenkins

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has considered the question of regionalising the police forces to be run on the lines of the N.F.S.; and whether he will make a statement on this question.

Mr. H. Morrison

I am not satisfied that there is a sufficient case for the nationalisation of the police service. Indeed, there would be strong objections to nationalisation, and there is no foundation for the suggestion that I am considering such a policy or the organisation of the police service on a regional basis.
