HC Deb 17 October 1944 vol 403 c2179
15. Mr. W. J. Brown

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that a large proportion of absence without leave offences arise from the inadequacy of 24 hours' leave, especially where the soldier is stationed a long way from home; and whether he will consider substituting 48 hours' leave in such cases.

Sir J. Grigg

The restrictions on leave have been relaxed and personnel of base establishments at home are now eligible for normal privilege leave in accordance with the rules contained in the Leave Manual.
