HC Deb 11 October 1944 vol 403 c1742
35. Mr. Creech Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether improvements in the pay and conditions and terms of service of trained Africans in the Soil Conservation Service in Kenya can now be made.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Colonel Oliver Stanley)

The question whether the present terms of service provide adequate remuneration for this staff is under consideration by the Kenya Government, and it is hoped that a decision will be reached shortly.

Mr. Creech Jones

May I ask the right hon. and gallant Gentleman whether he will hurry these discussions, which have been going on for such a long time?

Colonel Stanley

I have asked for a further report.
