HC Deb 15 November 1944 vol 404 c1968
65. Miss Rathbone

asked the Minister of Information whether he will arrange for the B.B.C. to follow up its recent series of quotations from Hitler's annual speeches during the war by a similar set of quotations from the speeches of General Franco during the war, showing his confidence in and desire for Hitler's victory.

Mr. Bracken

No, Sir. The extracts from Hitler's speches, to which my hon. Friend refers were related to an item in the B.B.C.'s news bulletin. As the B.B.C.'s wavelengths are so greatly overcrowded I cannot suggest to the Governors that they should prepare the anthology desired by my hon. Friend.

Miss Rathbone

Does not the British public deserve to be reminded of where this man's sympathies lie and of the fact that he recently encouraged his subjects to fight against our Ally Russia, in view of his recent demand to be included among those to be heard at the peace conference?

Mr. Bracken

I do not think the British public will forget the speeches mentioned by my hon. Friend.
