HC Deb 01 November 1944 vol 404 c791
40. Sir Harold Webbe

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works whether, in view of the bomb damage to the greenhouses in the Royal Parks, he is taking steps to ensure that there will be a display of flowers in the parks next summer, as such displays are much appreciated by the London public.

Mr. Hicks

We are aware of the damage mentioned and it is proposed to replace the glass in a small number of greenhouses to prevent the stock'of plants being destroyed by frost and to enable a reasonable display of flowers to be made, as we believe that flowers in the Royal Parks make an important contribution to the enjoyment of the parks by the public.
