HC Deb 01 November 1944 vol 404 c774
2. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can make a statement on the policy of retribution that is to be applied; is it intended that the people who have suffered most from the war should receive some benefit; and what steps are to be taken to avoid the benefits going to finance capital and to avoid economic effects on our own country like those of the Versailles settlement.

Mr. Law

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 3rd October to a similar Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Plaistow (Mr. Thorne), to which I have at present nothing to add.
