Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can make a statement on the policy of retribution that is to be applied; is it intended that the people who have suffered most from the war should receive some benefit; and what steps are to be taken to avoid the benefits going to finance capital and to avoid economic effects on our own country like those of the Versailles settlement.
§ Mr. LawI would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 3rd October to a similar Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Plaistow (Mr. Thorne), to which I have at present nothing to add.
