HC Deb 01 November 1944 vol 404 c788
31. Mr. Stephen

asked the Minister of Information if he will consider the reopening at an early date by the B.B.C. of a Scottish regional station to provide programmes which will be of interest to the Scottish people.

Mr. Bracken

I will ask the Governors of the B.B.C. to consider this suggestion.

Mr. Stephen

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware of the great dissatisfaction with English programmes among Scottish people, and that Scottish people are tired of English humour and jokes?

Mr. Bracken

The hon. Gentleman will be surprised to hear that the English, also, are sometimes discontented with the entertainment served up by the B.B.C. I think the hon. Gentleman had better allow my answer to rest. I will bring his Question to the attention of the Governors of the B.B.C.
