HC Deb 17 May 1944 vol 400 c166
28. Mr. Riley

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is now in a position to state what steps have been taken to implement the Report of a wages committee in Palestine whose recommendations have been under active consideration for some time; and is he aware of the dissatisfaction prevailing with regard to the delay in dealing with the committee's Report.

Colonel Stanley

Draft legislation has already been prepared by the Palestine Government on several of the measures envisaged in the wages committee report as part of the Government's general programme on labour legislation. Part of this draft legislation has, I understand, been circulated to local interested bodies in Palestine for their comments. As regards the last part of the Question, I am not aware of any dissatisfaction on the matters to which the hon. Member has drawn attention.
