HC Deb 03 May 1944 vol 399 c1297
5. Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether he can explain the circumstances under which an agreement was concluded between the belligerents for an aircraft flying the pontifical colours to take off from Sicily on Tuesday last for Rome; and whether he is satisfied this privilege is compatible. with the recently imposed restrictions on diplomatic activities.

Mr. Eden

I have made inquiries, as a result of which I learn that there is no truth in the report mentioned in the first part of the Question. The second part, therefore, does not arise.

Mr. Edwards

Would the Foreign Secretary like to have the Press cutting?

Mr. Eden

I shall be very glad to see the Press cutting but I do not think that it will influence me.
