HC Deb 08 March 1944 vol 397 c2035
28. Miss Ward

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why he has not issued instructions for a copy of the Macleod Report to be flown to England in order that it might be placed in the Library of the House.

Colonel Stanley

I much regret that no copy of this Report has up to now been available for the use of hon. Members. A number of copies were, however, received from the Governor two days ago, and two of these are being placed in the Library of the House to-day.

Miss Ward

In view of the fact that I arrived in this country with a copy, why could not the Report have been flown over by a B.O.A.C. aircraft, immediately after publication?

Colonel Stanley

The copies which are being put into the Library came out of a large consignment which, I think, probably weighed more than the hon. Lady, and, therefore, had to be delivered by sea.
