HC Deb 21 June 1944 vol 401 cc180-1
43. Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action has been taken within the Colonial Empire to carry out the recommendations of the Hot Springs Conference.

Colonel Stanley

His Majesty's Government undertook to commend the resolutions of the Hot Springs Conference to the Governments of the Colonies, Dependencies and Overseas Territories. This has been done and replies have been received from nearly all the Governments concerned. The general sense of the replies is that the Governments accept the broad aim of the resolutions and the obligation to give effect to them in so far as they are applicable in local conditions. I am afraid I could not enter into details within the scope of a reply to a Question, but I may mention that the implementation of the resolutions of the Conference, is being considered in many of the Dependencies in connection with plans for post-war development.
