HC Deb 20 June 1944 vol 401 c24
54. Mr. Hammersley

asked the Minister of Production whether he has now received the Report of the British Textile Mission to the U.S.A.; and what steps are being taken to make the Report available to the industry and to those interested.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Production (Mr. Garro Jones)

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 15th June to the hon. Member for Burnley (Mr. Burke).

Mr. Hammersley

Is it not highly desirable that this information should be made public to those concerned; and will my hon. Friend say whether or not it is intended to make this report public?

Mr. Garro-Jones

When the report is received, my right hon. Friend will consult with other Ministers who are equally interested in it, and will then arrive at a decision in regard to the matter raised by my hon. Friend.

Mr. Hammersley

Will my hon. Friend explain why, seeing that the delegation has been back some six weeks, the report has not yet been received?

Mr. Garro-Jones

There are a large number of complicated figures, not to say facts, involved, and I am satisfied that there has been no unnecessary delay in preparing this important report.
