HC Deb 26 July 1944 vol 402 cc754-5
33. Mr. Edgar Granville

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he has or will set up a special committee to examine what steps may be taken to inaugurate a special campaign to reduce the number of casualties upon the road.

Mr. Noel-Baker

The Committee on Road Safety are considering the question of a special campaign and will make recommendations on the matter to my Noble Friend in their Report.

Mr. Granville

In view of the decrease in civilian motoring traffic and the increase in military traffic, will the Committee have power to make recommendations with regard to safety regulation of military traffic? Are the pedestrians and cyclists' associations represented on this Committee?

Mr. Noel-Baker

I will send my hon. Friend a note of the composition of the Committee, as it would take too long to give it now. Certainly the Committee has power to examine all the matters he has mentioned and to make a report thereon.
