§ 43. Mr. Storeyasked the Minister of Production if it has yet proved possible to arrange for a resumption of imports of esparto grass.
§ Mr. LytteltonNo, Sir, but when it becomes possible to increase our imports of raw materials I will certainly bear in mind the claims of esparto.
§ Mr. StoreyIs my right hon. Friend aware that a very small import of esparto grass represents a great export of books and stationery; and in view of the need of expanding our exports to the utmost, would he take steps to resume imports at the earliest date?
§ Mr. LytteltonThe Minister of Supply has arranged for an expert to go out in, September to examine the question in all 1735 its aspects, and we will try to resume imports as soon as possible if not for all the reasons that the hon. Member gives.
