HC Deb 11 July 1944 vol 401 c1566
29. Major Vyvyan Adams

asked the Minister of Labour whether any advisers from the Navy, Army or Air Force will be included on the Resettlement Advice Office; and whether he will organise this assistance on a regional or county basis.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour (Mr. Tomlinson)

As regards the first part of the Question my Department is in consultation with the three Service Departments and no decision has yet been reached. As regards the second part of the Question, it is at present contemplated that Resettlement Advice Offices should be established in every town in which there is an Employment Exchange and should be controlled Regionally.

Major Adams

Will my hon. Friend remember that Service representatives might well make a useful contribution? For example, is he aware that faculties of certain tradesmen often come to light during their war service which have been hidden during their previous civilian life?

Mr. Tomlinson

Yes, that is the reason for the consultations.
