HC Deb 23 February 1944 vol 397 cc827-8
44. Mr. Hogg

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport to what other areas the principle of the Oxford Laundry Zoning Scheme now applies and what are the schemes concerned.

Mr. Bowles

On a point of Order. As I gave notice to raise this matter on the Adjournment, is it in Order for the hon. Member to ask a Question about it?

Mr. Speaker

The Question has passed the Table and is therefore in Order.

Mr. Noel-Baker

The principle of the Oxford Laundry Scheme, namely, that only one laundry serves each zone, is applied in Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, and many smaller places. In a number of other places, for example, Tamworth, Lichfield and Rochester, the laundries make no deliveries at all.
