HC Deb 27 April 1944 vol 399 c918
27. Dr. Little

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will arrange that in the case of ministers in Northern Ireland being called to the pastorate of churches in Great Britain, or vice versa, travel permits be granted to enable them to take up their duties.

Mr. H. Morrison

I have already authorised the issue of an exit permit in one case of the kind referred to, in view of the very special circumstances. Whether a permit can be granted in any other case will likewise depend on the individual circumstances and the degree of cogency attaching to it.

Dr. Little

Will my right hon. Friend see to it that ministers from Northern Ireland called to churches in Britain, will receive travel permits, as otherwise these charges will be faced with prolonged vacancies?

Mr. Morrison

I hope that my hon. Friend will also keep in mind the wide issues of security which are involved.
