Smithasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the need for cultural reconstruction after the war, he will appoint a committee to consider the establishment of a national theatre and include upon it representatives nominated by the Government by all branches of the dramatic profession and by those various societies which have interested themselves in, and have collected substantial funds for, the project.

Mr. SmithIs the Chancellor aware that a very large body of the public and of the dramatic profession are interested in this matter and that, if the Government were to give a lead by appointing such a committee, they would do something really good for an important branch of British dramatic art?
