HC Deb 20 April 1944 vol 399 cc358-9
29. Sir Herbert Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is making a consolidated lighting Order, in view of the many amendments which have been made to the original Order.

Mr. H. Morrison

Yes, Sir. I have recently made a new Order known as the Lighting (Restrictions) Order, 1944, which consolidates the Lighting (Restrictions) Order, 1940, and the eight amending Orders of which three were made in 1940, three in 1941 and two in 1943. As it was now necessary to make further amendments, mainly of an administrative character, the opportunity has been taken to consolidate all the Orders dealing with lighting restrictions in the new Order. There has also been some rearrangement of the original Order as amended, with the object of simplification and clarification. The general blackout provisions affecting the public remain unchanged.
