HC Deb 19 April 1944 vol 399 c184
21. Rear-Admiral Beamish

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will cause all possible steps to be taken to improve the service of mails to the Royal Navy.

The Civil Lord of the Admiralty (Captain Pilkington)

The naval mails organisation is kept constantly under review so that despatch and receipt of naval mails may be speeded up as much as possible.

Rear-Admiral Beamish

Will the hon. and gallant Gentleman convey to the First Lord the fact that there is a great deal of discontent in regard to the mail service to the Royal Navy, and that unless it is improved, this discontent may very well swell into a grievance?

Captain Pilkington

There have been very few complaints compared with the number of letters which have passed.
