HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 cc378-9
69. Mr. Craven-Ellis

asked the Minister of Health whether he can give an assurance that as soon as practicable after the war every inhabitant of these islands shall be decently housed and give a broad outline of the methods to be adopted to achieve this end?

Mr. E. Brown

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes, Sir." As regards the second part, I would refer my hon. Friend to the statements I have made both in Debates and in answer to Questions in the House. I am not in a position to add to these statements at present, but shall do so as and when circumstances permit.

Mr. Craven-Ellis

On several occasions I have taken exception to there being no forward policy by the right hon. Gentleman's Department as far as housing is concerned. How much longer are we to wait?

Mr. Brown

I do not accept that suggestion.
