HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 cc16-7
41. Captain Cunningham-Reid

asked the Secretary of State for War why E. N.S.A. personnel proceeding overseas are provided with a khaki uniform?

Sir J. Grigg

In order to facilitate the transport of E.N.S.A. artistes to theatres of war and their movement in those areas, it was considered by the military authorities in the Middle East and North Africa that they should be provided with a khaki uniform. The uniform is not provided by the War Department. I am, however, communicating with the military authorities to inquire further into the reason for these arrangements.

Captain Cunningham-Reid

Why: could not armlets be provided, instead of using up khaki uniforms?

Sir J. Grigg

I cannot do more than what I said I will do; I am communicating with the military authorities, to inquire further into the reason for the arrangements.

Mr. Denville

Is it not a breach of Army Regulations?
