HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 c31
91. Sir R. Clarry

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power the approximate number of acts of sabotage in the coalfields during the present year and the areas affected, discriminating between minor acts and serious instances of sabotage?

Major Lloyd George

Between the beginning of the year and the end of August, approximately 12 cases of malicious damage had been reported from various coalfields. They were not confined to any particular area and were all of minor importance not meriting the designation of sabotage. All possible precautions are taken against their occurrence.

Mr. Sloan

Does the Minister include among those 12 cases alleged acts of sabotage in one of the Fife coalmines?

Major Lloyd George

I could not say without notice.
