HC Deb 27 October 1943 vol 393 c180
59. Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether His Majesty's Government intend to introduce legislation for the creation of an unemployment insurance scheme in Trinidad?

Colonel Stanley

I understand that the Acting Governor of Trinidad appointed last month a Committee to explore the possibility of introducing in the Trinidad Legislature some contributory system of unemployment insurance.

Mr. Dugdale

Has the right hon. and gallant Gentleman any idea when the investigations will reach a conclusion?

Colonel Stanley

I could not say. The Committee has only just been set up.
