HC Deb 20 October 1943 vol 392 c1386
64. Sir Herbert Williams

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food the reason for the issue of a corrigendum slip in connection with the Emergency Powers (Defence) Food (Condensed Milk) Order (S.R. & O., No. 1396, of 1943), correcting the words "Full Cream Sweetened," to the words "Full Cream Unsweetened "?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food (Mr. Mabane)

The corrigendum slip to which my hon. Friend refers was issued because the Order as published differed from the Order as signed.

Sir H. Williams

Do I understand that proof-reading is so carelessly done that the Stationery Department prints documents different from those which Ministers have authorised?

Mr. Mabane

I cannot answer for the Stationery Office.

Sir H. Williams

Has the right hoi. Gentleman discovered how this strange mistake was made?

Mr. Mabane

The Stationery Office admits liability.
